Nakato Rehema is a passionate, dedicated public health specialist, sexual reproductive health and rights trainer, researcher, and writer with experience in developing and successfully implementing youth development and public health projects for communities. Rehema has garnered experience in not-for-profit project planning and management on youth development work with renowned organisations including Open Space Centre, Restless Development and Awesome Mind Speaks. At only 23 years of age, Rehema was appointed the youngest board member for Restless Development Uganda, where she offers strategic direction regarding organisational policies and programs to the organisation’s senior leadership team. Rehema is very passionate about public health policies and health equity for marginalized groups of people.
Rehema Nakato has also been privileged to participate in prestigious leadership fellowships at a national and regional level for outstanding young leaders in Uganda’s civil society, including the 2024/2025 Global Health Corps African Leadership Accelerator Fellowship(GHC), the USISI Amandla fellowship for public policy, the USAID/CSSA GUIDE fellowship and the BUILD Integrated Population, health, environment, and Development fellowship, all of which have molded her passion and unique ability to empower individuals and communities to innovatively address their most pertinent development issues.
